Fighter stands idea

Postby mj12games » Fri Jul 07, 2017 1:53 pm

While at The Home Depot yesterday, I stumbled across these: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-E ... /203531921

This sparked an idea in my head, and a couple hours (and one 5/32" hole in my finger) later, I ended up with this:

The mounting bases are stuck on 1-1/2" wooden disks I had lying around from a previous project (although I'm thinking of moving to metal washers so they can be stored using magnets). The posts are cut from 5/32" styrene tubes; the side posts are 3/4" long, while the front post is 3/8". I initially put posts on all four sides, but that made it exceedingly difficult to reach the die. :)

Speaking of which, the square in the center holds a 10mm die, which are pretty cheap: I ordered a lot of 30 from Amazon for $8.

Anyway, hope you all find this helpful!

My takeaway from this thread is that Dan purchased d6's. I would have thought that by now He would have a surplus of several thousand idly hanging around his house just waiting for an attack roll.
;)

Edit: hope you ordered some d7's for your light fight flights.

Hi everyone. I really enjoy seeing people's DIY gaming hacks. I am unfortunately not the most creative person. I will however share an idea I tried. Basically it is a cheap mini stand. I bought a bunch of cheap ships off Amazon. They are nice, but obviously no stands. A normal hex stand is about 30 cents. Not bad, but I paid maybe 75 cents for each ship. I play mostly starmada Nova and ACTA. So I made some cheap circular stands using a penny, a trim nail, and an eyelet. I hope others share their own ideas.

I do, actually. Just not small enough to fit. :)
