Shipyard Latest

Postby OldnGrey » Sun Dec 21, 2008 2:40 am

The latest version of the shipyard will be posted here with the latest guide.

Written in Open Office and should be compatible with Oo2.4 Oo3.1 Oo3.2 Oo3.3 and Excel (well most versions).

As always, anything which may not seem to work or any questions let me know.

Update to Small Craft, Open Office 3.0 stopped some of the drop down lists that were linked to cell ranges.
Now converted to simple lists.

You do not have to start over again. Delete the contents of the Small Craft sheet and copy over the contents of the Small Craft sheet in v20. So long as everything ends up in the same cells it should work ok.
Or just the block of cells from F3 to I60.
On the Text sheet, small change to the Spinal mount line (A23).

Oh, don't mind me, I've grown overly melodramatic in my old age :) Basically what I do to the shipyard that you post is add a new record sheet that pulls in all of the parts that I want to display, and I insert a couple of calculations that I use. Then I add the universe specific info. Lots of cutting and pasting. Keep up the good work, lord knows my spreadsheet-fu is weak!
Cheers,
Erik

Seems my spreadsheet-fu flew out the window.
The Ablative Armor was messed up by me 18 months ago and it was only now spotted.
Please, if anyone spots something wrong say so.

Do not know why, I cant get 'down into' the shipyard enough to tell (my OO foo is non-existant)...

But when I add 1 point of ablative armor to a ship, its CR goes down. It is taking several to get the CR back up to what it was before.

Never Noticed the ablative armor problem because I never used ablative armor :D !
I was wondering What others thought about adding a penalty for having giving a ship the Atmospheric trait. I use the tab for Atmospheric on the template so it will calculate it for the VBAM cost, but it doesn't cost SUs. I usually add in a special equipment called Atmospheric and give it a 15% (or 20% in some settings) BSU cost. Having it in the sheet already would save me time next time a new version comes out
Cheers,
Erik

To some extent you pay via way of the engine requirement but atmospheric has never been an official part of Starmada. I did ask a little while ago but found that The Stars Divided sxca that comes with the book download has Atmospheric as 20% Hull SU. Where this figure came from I do not know.
At the moment I am trying to convert Dual Mode fighters for VBAM and having to re do a couple of bits of the spreadsheet due to Oo3.0. I swear it must have a few bugs, one time something will work and the next you have problems. I think the person that decided to change the handling of apparently blank cells must have been on something at the time!
If you wish I will include Atmospheric as equipment (under the for VBAM label).
