SAE Star Fleet Universe Construction

Postby dreamscapeflyer » Mon May 19, 2014 8:20 pm

A few questions about construction in SFU:

1. When calculating SU, DRAT, and ORAT for tractor beams, do you just use the values derived from the weapon battery factors provided for tractors in SAE Klingon Armada?
If so, there is no DRAT associated with tractor beams, then?

2. Which tech level category do the following Special Options fall under:
2a. Expanding Sphere Generators? (I assume Weapons; but considering their defensive nature, I am not sure)
2b. Tractor Beams? (I assume Weapons; but in SFU, tractors are not usually considered to be a "weapon")
2c. Probes? (again, I assume Weapons; but in SFU, probes are not usually considered to be a "weapon")
2d. Web Generators? (I assume Weapons; but, again, considering their defensive nature, I am not sure)

3. In SAE Distant Armada, it states: "In starship construction, Hellbore Cannons incur a x2.0 weapons trait modifier."
Does this x2.0 modifier already include the modifier for Slow-firing or is it separate?

Thanks

1. No, SU used for Tractor Beams is 14, this was not included in the book.
Tractor Beams have no DRAT, Only ORAT.
2. All of these fall under the equipment tech level but tech levels were not used in construction of the data cards.
3. No it is separate, "Hellbore" should be used as a trait in addition to Carronade and Slow Firing.

Thanks, Paul. I appreciate the help. I understood that tech levels are not used in the SFU setting but I am working on adapting an Excel spreadsheet (really, more like learning how to use Excel) and I'd like it to be as compatable with the full game as possible.
