Brief AAR - The Fate of Germany

Postby Wilf » Wed Jun 01, 2016 3:40 pm

In honour of Jutland, I ran a GF3 WW1 game last night, being the pre-Jutland 'Fate of Germany' scenario in the K&K supplement.
(Alas still too many ships in dry dock to run Jutland...yet!)

The Royal Navy operated in three squadrons:
1. 3 x KGV BBs
2. 3 x Orion BBs
3. Four BCs: 2 x Lion, 1 x Queen Mary, 1 x Tiger.

The Imperial German Navy operated five squadrons:
1. 4 x Helgoland BBs
2. 4 x Nassau BBs
3. 3 x Braunschweig BB
4. 5 x Deutschland BBs
5. 4 x Kaiser BBs (-1, still in dry dock...)

The RN stood off and took advantage of their superior range as the Germans attempted to close.
Eventually the Germans began to land shots, but at the cost of two sunk (the Hessen & Deutschland).
Called time with one round to go (of six, after the first shots), the RN having landed 94 hits compared to 57 by the Germans.
The RN BCs had taken heavy damage and perhaps might not have lasted... still a resounding British victory, Rule Britannia!

First time out with 1/6000 ships, some scale adjustment to allow for manoeuvre, kept command at 2"=1kyd but compressed range & speed to 1" per 1kyd. Set-up was a bit clunky & will need to revisit, allowed RN to set-up parallel to the long edge.

Cheers,
Wilf

PS spot a few of the new Jutland cards? ;-)

Wow... those shots are incredible! I love the ship bases.
