I'm trying to do it, but I'm not a excel expert and it would be very crude.

OldnGrey's shipyard sheet calculates both SAE and SFO stats now with a separate output for the SFO stuff. Build the ship as normal in the template section and it gives you all the SFO goodness. I did a conversion sheet that works for me, but like you I am no spreadsheet expert, and it is a thing of crudeness extraordinaire.

Thanks for the info. This guy is a genius!
BTW, I modified slightly the SFO spreadsheet by changing the battery names (X, Y, etc.) into their real name.
I intend to see how Star Fleet ships fare using SFO values, among other designs.

I have just posted an updated version.(20110527)
Tractor Beam has been mentioned in the forum, I have added this for Armada ships.
All of the Starmada auxiliary services can be chosen for use in campaigns (if your ships last that long) :)

So let it be written, so let it be done.

One thread on the forum reveals that the intent was for the ranges to be between 2 and 12.

Range 1 is to represent Anti-Fighter batteries with no short range ( 0/1 ). As written, half range of 1 still came out as 1, I have amended this so that with a maximum range of 1, short range is shown as 0.

I have posted the updated spreadsheet (20110717)

This loos really great, but I'm having difficulty using it. Whenever I open it it says it is in a read-only mode. Anybody know how to fix this? thanks

I have only come across the "Read Only" when I have opened a spreadsheet without extracting the file first.
Did you "unzip" the download file before opening it?
The spreadsheet itself is not protected from being used.
