Coming Soon...pretty SSDs for Squadron Strike!

Postby Ken_Burnside » Wed Sep 02, 2009 6:40 pm

Lots of people have tried to be polite to me about how ugly the Excel SSDs are. This is an example of MacGyver's Pocketknife - Excel isn't the best tool for the job of creating a usable pretty SSD, but it can create a usable ugly one.

Mike Zebrowski hates the Excel tool with a passion that's brighter than a thousand suns.

Fortunately, he likes the game. He's been working on a tool that will take the XML from the XML-Export tabs of the ship design sheets and produces a PDF.

He and I have been debugging things for about two weeks. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel (where it's not obscured by user error on my part).

Here's a sample:

We currently plan on a simul release of the Open Office and Excel versions of the ship design tools with support for SSPDF output; progress is going nicely and when it's done, I'll make an announcement.
