What sort of scale are we talking about, fleet-wise? Is it an RPG-style campaign, or is it like the fleet battles in Star Wars and DS9?

I'm ambivalent about it, but mainly because I'm a BFG type of guy, and I'd fill that hull with way more of those HParC's...:) Fighters always tend to die early in my games (those I've been able to play) mainly because I target them early so I don't have to worry about them.

Similar to Star Wars and BSG and as to campaign style its still up in the air along with Tech levels. Working out my thoughts on three races at this time.

Then I feel that ship is way too big. And very difficult to kill, unless the opponents have access to piercing weapons.
Of course, it will depends on other ships you'll design. If other fleets may have a lot of smaller ships (frigates, destroyers...), with lower prices (about 100 to 200 points), this heavy carrier can be flooded by a horde of smaller opponents, and the game could take an eternity to end, as I suppose this SCV will not be alone.

What I'm looking for is some massive carrier exchanges. The other alien race will have much higher Tech level with heavy fighter and indeed piercing weapons will be present. The Kennedy Class carrier will be the pinnacle of human tech.
