I really do Hope Dan has kept the online contributions, as there was some good collaborative work being done while I was able to access it from work - albeit slowly.

Dan, could you package the stuff up and put it on the SF Omega List, sans viagra ads?

That is actually a cool idea.

I am still in the 'learning the system' stage and I haven't rounded up and painted enough mini's to actually play yet. But it sounds like it would be great to read through...

I, too, would love to see this project completed (especially the parts dealing with the short-lived, badly-animated, animated series).

Also, are the races fixed, or is there room to add more?

There's LOTS of room to add more.

Basic premise was that the 'Federation stand in' (forget the name) was attacked by damaging the 'Gate Network' which was a series of jump gates (similiar to those in Babylon 5). Space Fleet Omega was actually a fleet, the last/newest in a string of colonial fleets along the path of colonization.

The SFO group decided to investigate the cause of it's loss of contact, and the pseudepigraphal "pilot" was concerned with events at the begining of the conflict. The 'Series' is about the adventures of the fleet (largely, the OFS 'Endeavour', though other ships are frequently involved) when they try to investigate the cause of the gate systems's crash and their journey back home to help end the war they find themelves in.

The Yahoo group is here...

The bad guys are called Kalamarians (for reasons that are obvious to those that have seen my sketches) :) , there are also some eventual allies called the Tharbarians, a group called the Nerfertitians, and I know *I* had plans for doing the usual Aliens that pop up throughout the show's run.

SFO was unable to use the gates, due to the machinations of the Kalamarians, so they had to go through the various star systems on the way home using 'standard FTL', an older and rather slower method. They followed the old 'caravan routes' that still exist (and are used for 'local traffic'). Standard FTL is sort of a slower version of 'warp drive' from the various Trek series.

Races along the routes still had to be filled in, GOBS of rooms for them...

I thought we'd discussed this before, but I can't seem to find it. (not that I'd look for it all that much anyway)

I personally view that animation as an attempt to revitalise a franchise that had been destroyed by diva-ism and an apathetic society as a whole. There's not much to do about it now, except try to re-master what we have and find someone somewhere who might have a copy of the lost episodes.

Let's bring the whole thing back... That's my motto.

What I'd like to see is the wiki brought back, so much has been lost already, we can ill afford to lose that too.

If I go to:

http://mj12games.com/omegapedia/

..All I get is a blank page, no error message, so Dan's done something to it - or it's failed in an odd way.

The problem was that we got some A$$hat that kept posting Viagra links on it. We need to be able to stop that, and that means setting up a login of some sort.

The more I think about it, the more I think that SFO would be a good model on which to base another Starmada supplement, or even a series of supplements.

Of course, that means having some more of the series on which to base the races and ship designs....
