Brand New to Unity/Starmada - Possible to do Hexless?

Postby MrHarold » Wed May 24, 2017 4:27 pm

Hello everyone!

I just ordered the rulebook (Starmada Unity) and i'd like to convert the Hex-based system to a hexless one.

I have a feeling someone has probably already done that, so I just wanted to see what others have come up with before trying to reinvent the wheel.

Thanks!
Harold

Lucky for you, the book already comes with guidelines for hexless play. The only tricky part is getting some sort of facing template.

Thanks!

I must be going blind, would you mind directing me towards where it talks about that?

EDIT: Disregard, just found it! Thanks

:)

Ok, how about telling the rest of us what it's listed under?

Can't find anything that says hexless in the book.

Page 4, Section 0.1, right under the hex map images.

The paragraph stealthily says "open tabletop" instead of "hexless" :D

I played Starmada Nova hexless. Simply said, convert each hex in 3, 4 or 5 cm, as you like. Each 60° pivot is easy to translate hex less. Especially if the ships use hexagonal bases. Thoses bases are also convenient to determine weapons arcs.
Use the mast of the ships to measure distance.
